Sealing tape for retailers' packs (1957)
Reported in Lesney Link magazine, Number 8, July 1987.
Collectors' Cards from 1986. There was one of these in each Matchbox Miniatures box. The pictures on the 75 cards in the set were exactly the same as those in the 1986 pocket catalogue. I have a few spares, and I need cards numbers 22 and 30. I would be glad to swap for these.
In 1984, a set of 14 Yesteryear badges (pins), representing the 'first series' models, were designed and produced in the United States and made with the full approval of Matchbox (USA). Here is Badge Y-1. Click the image to view an enlarged copy. Scan by courtesy of Mark Cirucci.

Where do ideas come from?
Does someone out there have a model of a Triumph TR3 with Made in
England by Lesney on the underside? It does exist, is 51 mm long and has no baseplate. The TR3 was introduced in 1957, so the model will have been
made soon after that. When shown a photograph, Jack Odell, one time vice-chairman of Lesney Products told us the model was not made by Lesneys and that it was certainly a "pirate".
