Leake Side

The LEAKE Side

Our LEAK line can be traced to Denton on the Lincolnshire/Leicestershire border, where the family appeared at the beginning of the eighteenth century. Denton was a typical 'estate' village. It was owned by the Welby family. The LEAKs were farmers and three generations are recorded living in the village.

Our ATTERTONs probably came from around the market town of Clare on the Suffolk/Essex border, though this has not yet been established. The KITTRIDGEs came from Cambridge and the CHILMANs from Surrey. For more details, follow the respective links.
